I absolutely love all natural holistic supplements. Especially blends of Ayurvedic herbs and spices. These are all-rounders because they have an endless amount of health benefits. I add natural supplements in my diet regularly when home and even when I’m travelling. Sometimes I rotate them as I can’t take too many at the same time. So, I wanted to share a list of the ones I feel are the most effective with you!
Manuka honey from New Zealand is a medicinal honey as it contains a powerful antibacterial enzyme called methylglyoxal (MGO). This property is unique to manuka honey and is not found in any other honey. It is also loaded with antioxidants vitamins and minerals. Whichever brand you go for (I love trying different ones) make sure its certified and look for MGO. Health benefits of this wonderful honey are that it; improves digestion, treats acne, helps fight the common cold and flu, boosts immunity, reduces allergies and heals ulcers. I take a teaspoon once or twice a day straight up or sometimes sprinkle a little bit of organic cinnamon powder or turmeric powder on it.
Indians don’t need an introduction to this spice and it has recently become so popular in the west. I take it in powder form in my meals, hot drinks and almond milk – turmeric latte is my favourite! I take turmeric in capsule form too, especially when I’m travelling. Turmeric Formula by organic India is the one I’m loving these days. A blend of organic turmeric, turmeric extract, organic trikatu, black pepper and ginger, this formula helps with indigestion, bloating, joint and muscle pain, coughs/ colds, and reduces acne and other skin conditions. I take 2 capsules after lunch.
I don’t take this one every day, only when im travelling. Triphala is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal formulation consisting of three fruits – Bibhitaki, Haritaki and Amalaki. Triphala supports healthy digestion by flushing out toxins from your system. It works by gently internally cleansing you. It is also a powerful antioxidant that helps boost immunity. Pukka Triphala plus has additional ingredients, including rhubarb root, liquorice root, fennel seed, psyllium husk and golden linseed. I take 2-3 capsules after dinner.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR PLUS
Apple cider vinegar is a natural supplement I take on and off but it’s not my everyday essential supplement. I usually take this in liquid form (so it’s diluted) for a maximum of a week to ten days. The capsules are easy to travel with and this time around, I’m going to take pure Nutrition ACV capsules for my summer vacation. This one too has fabulous ingredients besides the key ingredient ACV, including moringa, ginger root extract, spirulina, coconut water, lactic acid bacillus, cayenne extract, Alfa Alfa and apple pectin – the perfect blend to keep your system alkaline. I take 1 capsule before lunch.
Wakaya organic pink Fijian ginger capsules are perfect travel essentials. We all know the amazing health benefits of ginger. It helps reduce nausea and sickness caused by overeating. It also reduces stomach cramps/ spasms, relieves aches and pains and helps treat seasonal allergies and colds.
Please note, these supplements are non-prescription based and work really well on me. If you have any underlying health conditions, then please take advice from your gp before going for any of the above I’ve mentioned in this post.
